Facts worth knowing about biotin
Does biotin help speed up wound healing?
According to studies, vitamin B supplements in particular are said to accelerate and improve wound healing. The study was conducted in patients with periodontitis who had undergone access flap surgery. 50% of the participants received a vitamin B complex (including 50 micrograms of biotin), the rest a placebo.
The result of the test group was significantly better for the clinical attachment level for shallow and deep surgical wounds. However, no further significant difference between the placebo and vitamin B groups was observed. To benefit from the above-average wound healing properties of biotin, the daily requirement should be met as recommended. An overdose, with the desire to stimulate wound healing, will have no effect due to the natural kidney excretion of excess biotin.
Is biotin also suitable for dogs, cats and horses?
Biotin is just as popular in the human world as it is in the animal world. Dog, cat and horse owners alike buy biotin products to treat brittle claws, hooves, a dull coat or flaky patches of skin on their animals.
