Guide: Questions you should ask yourself before buying chlorophyll tablets

When looking for the right chlorophyll tablets, you should first and foremost know the most important information about the topic. Therefore, I have summarised them for you below.

What are chlorophyll tablets?

Chlorophyll tablets are tablets that contain the plant substance chlorophyll. As already mentioned, this is responsible for photosynthesis in plants and trees.

By absorbing sunlight, the plants are provided with energy. The substance is responsible for green colouring.

By taking chlorophyll tablets, the body receives an active substance that has an extremely positive effect on the body in many ways. Moreover, since it is a natural substance, there are no known side effects. In extreme cases, the stool has a green discolouration.

What are the advantages of chlorophyll tablets?

Chlorophyll tablets have a positive effect on almost all areas of the body and psyche.

Did you know that chlorophyll can slow down the ageing process?

A study in the Journal of Lifestyle Medicine had women over 45 take chlorophyll supplements for 90 days. The result was improved skin elasticity and fewer facial wrinkles.

Chlorophyll, for example, is considered an excellent substance to counteract the ageing process. The reason for this is the molecular structure of chlorophyll, which is extremely similar to the human blood pigment haemoglobin. In addition, the substance contains a large amount of magnesium and antioxidants. The blood is thus purified and new blood cells are created.

The immune system is also effectively strengthened by the antioxidants already mentioned. These are considered antagonists of free radicals.

Another positive effect is seen on appetite and body weight. Although the substance itself does not work directly on the fat-burning process, hunger decreases. As a result, less food is consumed and dieting becomes easier. According to a Swedish study, the cholesterol level in the blood is also lowered.

Chlorophyll can also help with bad breath or body odour. Already during the Second World War, the US internist Dr. Franklin Howard Westcott found out that the substance on the festering wounds of amputated soldiers enabled a faster healing, furthermore the strong smells decreased.

Decision: What types of chlorophyll are there and which is the right one for you?

Basically, you can distinguish between four different types of chlorophyll:

  • Chlorophyll Tablets
  • Chlorophyll Liquid
  • Chlorophyll Capsules
  • Chlorophyll Powder

What are chlorophyll tablets and what are the advantages and disadvantages of chlorophyll tablets?

Chlorophyll tablets allow you to take the substance in tablet form. This makes them suitable for taking on the go.

In addition, in most cases the chlorophyll is accompanied by additives such as vegetable cellulose. This means that the dosage is somewhat lower in contrast to the liquid variant.

Advantages
  • Ideally suited for on the go
  • Often contain additives with positive effects
  • Most products contain a large amount
  • Some products are water-soluble
Disadvantages
  • Dosage not so high

What is Chlorophyll Liquid and what are the advantages and disadvantages of Chlorophyll Liquid?

Chlorophyll Liquid describes the substance in liquid form. This is usually drunk in combination with water. The liquid variant is characterised by its purity. In addition, the liquid is absorbed by the body as quickly as possible.

Advantages
  • High purity
  • Can be used with any drink
  • Quickly absorbed by the body
Disadvantages
  • Can be used on the go

What are chlorophyll capsules and what are the advantages and disadvantages of chlorophyll capsules?

Chlorophyll capsules are very similar to capsules. The difference lies in the absorption by the body, as tablets must first be in the stomach before the capsule shell is finally dissolved and the chlorophyll is processed by the body.

Therefore, the process takes longer than with tablets. In addition, a liquid is necessary for ingestion.

Advantages
  • Tasteless
  • Most products contain a large amount
  • Often contain additives with positive effects
Disadvantages
  • Unsuitable for on the go
  • Chlorophyll is only absorbed by the body after a few minutes
  • Dosage not so high

What is chlorophyll powder and what are the advantages and disadvantages of chlorophyll powder?

Chlorophyll powder is actually pure chlorophyll without additives. However, pure chlorophyll powder is not available on the market. Chlorella and barley grass powder are the most commonly offered products in powder form that contain chlorophyll.

They also contain a number of other additives such as minerals and vitamins.

Advantages
  • Contains a mixture of chlorophyll and other beneficial substances
Disadvantages
  • Chlorophyll only contained in small quantities
  • use requires a liquid

Buying criteria: These are the factors you can use to compare and evaluate chlorophyll tablets

In the following we would like to show you which factors you can use to compare and evaluate chlorophyll tablets. This will make it easier for you to decide whether a particular chlorophyll tablet is suitable for you or not.

In summary, these are:

  • Dosage
  • Quantity
  • Additives
  • Intake

Dosage

The dosage plays a decisive role in relation to the effect. In principle, the higher the dosage, the stronger the effect.

In particular, tablets that contain a number of additives such as vitamin B12 or zinc limit the dose of chlorophyll. How high the dosage ultimately is depends on the respective product.

High doses have a stronger effect against diseases such as cancer or dementia, which is why the highest possible dose is recommended. Since chlorophyll has no known side effects, there is no maximum daily dose.

However, a green colouration of the stool is possible with a high dosage.

Amount

Depending on the product, the amount can vary greatly. If you want to test a certain product first, I recommend a small amount. If you have a positive experience, a larger amount is a good choice afterwards.

Especially when fighting diseases, a product with as large a quantity as possible is advantageous, as often only a dosage over a longer period of time has a noticeable effect.

Many products have between 80 - 120 tablets. However, there are also chlorophyll tablets with 180 - 240 pieces. With a daily consumption of three tablets per day, the pack lasts 2 - 3 months.

However, considerably more tablets can be consumed per day. No upper limit is known from the medical side so far.

Additives

Especially for the daily needs of people without special diseases, a product that accompanies chlorophyll with a number of minerals and vitamins is a good choice. Since the body needs a certain amount of essential substances every day, additional coverage on the part of the tablets is a clear plus.

The majority of people living in Germany do not have an optimal diet, so certain substances are taken in excessive doses, while others are neglected. Natural supplements therefore contribute to a strong immune system and healthy body circulation.

However, if the goal is to fight certain diseases, the use of additives, even if they are natural, is usually not optimal.

The reason for this is that chlorophyll tablets usually have a lower dose if they have additives.

Intake

The intake of chlorophyll tablets can vary depending on the product; some products are offered as chewable tablets, for example. These are, as the name suggests, tablets that are taken orally and can then be chewed.

A variant is the water-soluble tablet, which is intended to be sucked as well as dissolved in any drink and then drunk.

The advantage with water-soluble tablets, besides the possibility of using them on the go, is the fact that they can also be drunk with a beverage of choice.

In addition, you have the option of consuming more than one tablet at a time, for example in case you need to compensate for a low dose. Chewable tablets take a certain amount of time to fully release their substances.

In the case of water-soluble tablets, which usually dissolve relatively quickly, the ingredients are immediately delivered to the body when taken.

Facts worth knowing about chlorophyll tablets

Chlorophyll tablets have become extremely popular in recent years, not least because of their positive effect on health.

Chlorophyll for magnesium deficiency

Chlorophyll is a true miracle cure for magnesium deficiency. Especially due to diets high in sugar and fat, more and more sources of magnesium such as nuts or green vegetables are neglected.

What many people do not know: Magnesium is indispensable for the proper functioning of the brain as well as correct muscle function.

In addition, our entire nervous system depends on magnesium, among other things. The secret of chlorophyll is the fact that every chlorophyll molecule also has a magnesium particle.

For example, if you use chlorella algae (4 g) and a spoonful of wheatgrass powder (10 g) every day, 10% of the total daily requirement is already covered.

Chlorophyll as a detoxifier

Chlorophyll also has the special property of removing impurities such as heavy metals or pesticides from the body. This is why chlorella algae are often used in medical circles for detoxification cures. The reason for this is its extremely high chlorophyll content.

Carina RehbergAutorin
A study from 2013 showed that chlorophyll has a detoxifying effect. Due to its chemical structure, it can bind heavy metals and eliminate them via the intestines.

A study published in the Journal of Environmental Science and Toxicology in 2013 also states that the substance can bind heavy metals due to its chemical structure. These are then excreted via the intestines.

Twelve years earlier, a study was published in Environmental Health Perspectives stating that chlorophyll can protect the body from the extremely toxic dioxin.

For this very reason, the plant substance is inherently very effective against cancer, since toxic substances increase the risk of cancer.

Chlorophyll against cancer

According to another study published in the International Journal of Cancer, chlorophyll is more effective against colon cancer than chemotherapy. The substance is ten times more effective against cancer cells than the chemotherapeutic medicine hydroxyurea. (1)

In addition, the plant substance also turns out to be an excellent remedy against liver cancer because it can eliminate aflatoxins. These are very dangerous mould toxins that can put a lot of strain on the liver and thus lead to degeneration.

Chlorophyll - the green blood

Chlorophyll is extremely effective in making blood. Chlorophyllin, as the dye is called, is basically a water-soluble derivative of chlorophyll. This is almost identical to the pigment in our blood, haemoglobin.

Did you know that chlorophyll has a positive effect on the acid-base balance?

Over-acidification can quickly develop in an unconscious western lifestyle and promote various clinical pictures. A lot of sugar, white flour, meat, coffee and also chronic stress are only a few causes of hyperacidity. Chlorophyll has a highly alkaline effect and has been scientifically proven to help.

Therefore, an increased intake of the plant substance also means a qualitative as well as quantitative formation of red blood cells. (2, 3) Due to the fact that the blood reaches all organs as well as the skin via our circulatory system, it is obvious that chlorophyll benefits the entire body.

Occurrence of chlorophyll

As already mentioned, chlorophyll is a plant substance that is responsible for photosynthesis, among other things. Therefore, in principle, it is contained in every plant and every tree. But a number of foods also have considerable amounts of chlorophyll (4)

Some of them are listed below:

  • Broccoli
  • green peas
  • Cucumbers
  • Stinging nettle
  • Parsley
  • Coriander
  • Kiwi
  • Chlorella
  • Spinach
  • White cabbage
  • green beans

Historical background of chlorophyll

The first historical records of the dye can be found in the book "Grundlehren der Anatomie und Physiologie der Pflanzen" by Heinrich Friedrich Link in 1807.

The two scientists Pierre Joseph Pelletier and Joseph Bienaimé Caventou named the substance chlorophyll, as it is known today.

However, the first studies on the structure of the substance did not take place until almost 100 years later. The chemist Hans Fischer studied the plant substance for many years until he succeeded in clarifying the structure of the molecule in 1940.

20 years later, these research results were confirmed by Robert B. Woodwards with the help of his chlorophyll synthesis. Already at that time, the substance was used to treat wounds.

Years later, it was also used for other medical purposes such as the aforementioned fight against diseases like cancer.
