How did the Givenchy brand appeared?

Hubert James Marcel Taffim de Givenchy has had a keen interest in fashion ever since he was a boy. At just 17 he entered the School of Fine Arts in Paris and began working with some of the most important French fashion personalities at the time.

Years later Hubert Givenchy also worked with Elsa Schiaparelli, whose right-hand man he was. The fact that he was constantly in contact with the great names of haute couture helped him to acquire a wide range of experience that served as a basis for him to open his own maison.

His brand was inaugurated when the designer was only 24 years old, in February 1952, west of Paris. The success was instantaneous, after all his Givenchy brought many novelties, meeting the requirements and conditions that the refined woman demanded.

What are the classic Givenchy perfumes?

Givenchy has a wide range of perfumes, however, as we are talking about classic versions, we cannot fail to highlight L'Interdit.

Created in 1957 by perfumer Francis Fabron, the perfume was a tribute to Audrey Hepburn, with whom Givenchy was good friends. In addition, it was also the brand's first fragrance.

However, the classic was re-launched in the year 2018 in a re-release created by master perfumers Dominique Ropion, Anne Flipo and Fanny Bal.

How to use Givenchy perfume?

To keep the fragrance until the end of the day and without changes is important to take some care in the application. To begin with, it is necessary to apply the perfume on pulsating points, such as the neck, wrists, behind the ears and in the crease of the arm. As these are warmer areas, the perfume tends to last longer.

It is also important not to rub the perfume after applying it. This is because this practice causes changes in the perfume molecules, thus altering its aroma and fixation. Therefore, apply the perfume, preferably without clothes, wait for the liquid to dry naturally on the skin and then get dressed.

Finally, if you want to extend the fixing period of your perfume, it is necessary to keep your skin hydrated with a good cream. This makes the skin have a better adherence to the perfume.

Purchase Criteria: what to consider when buying your Givenchy perfume

Before buying a perfume it is very important to pay attention to some details. These are points that will help you make the right decision, especially when we talk about Givenchy perfume, an item with such personal characteristics.

With that in mind, we have selected the main criteria for choosing this product. Check them out!

All these points should be analysed so that you do not make a mistake when choosing your perfume. That is why we will explain more about each one below.

Masculine or feminine?

The first thing to analyse before buying a perfume is whether it is suitable for men or women.

Female perfumes have more sensual notes such as vanilla.

Male perfumes tend to be stronger and woody. Some also count iris and patchouli. The more sensual versions usually have Black Vanilla.

The female perfumes have more sensual notes like vanilla, jasmine and roses. Some also have a woody touch, but in a lighter way.

Aroma

One of the most important points to analyse at the time of purchase is the type of perfume aroma. After all, some prefer those lighter versions, with a scent closer to the skin.

Others prefer a more striking perfume, with notes of leather or vanilla. There are still those who prefer the citric ones, with notes of lemon or grapefruit? And you, which do you prefer? Don't forget to analyse this criterion very well!

Quantity of perfume

This point is related to the frequency of use, because if you choose a perfume for the day to day, you will certainly use it a lot. In this case, it is better to choose a bigger version, a 100ml one.

But, if you are looking for a perfume to use at night, you can opt for the 30ml or 50ml versions. This is because, normally, we use night perfumes less frequently.

Time of use

The period of the day in which the perfume will be used is also very important and is a point that should be used as criteria. If you will wear it during the day, for example, it is best to opt for lighter and softer fragrances. Citric or floral options are good choices.

But if the perfume will be worn at night, how about daring a bit more? The versions with vanilla, tonka bean and woody notes are great options. If it has almond, leather or licorice, even better.
