Buying criteria: These are the factors you can use to compare and evaluate Siemens hoovers

There are several factors you should consider when buying a Siemens hoover. We have distinguished the following criteria:

In the next few paragraphs, we will explain what is important in these buying criteria.

Suction power

When it comes to suction power, people often only look at the power rating in watts. However, this figure says nothing about the actual suction power, but only indicates how much energy is consumed. So a hoover with a high wattage does not automatically have good suction power.

A good indication of the actual suction power is the hard floor or carpet cleaning classes. They are given in the grades A to G.

Cleaning a carpet thoroughly is more difficult than removing dust from hard floors. So if a hoover scores well in the carpet cleaning class, the suction power is most likely very good. For most purposes, classes B and C are sufficient. Siemens hoovers often achieve the best hard floor cleaning class A and carpet cleaning classes B or C. Thus, their overall suction power is very good. The inexpensive models usually perform somewhat worse.

Operating radius

The operating radius plays an important role for hoovers. First and foremost, the length of the cable and the flexibility of the suction tube are decisive.

A large action radius means more flexibility and freedom of movement.

A large action radius makes vacuuming much easier and more pleasant for you, as you have to change the socket less often and have a high degree of freedom of movement. The action radius should be at least 8 metres to enable uncomplicated cleaning. Siemens hoovers generally perform very well here. Many models achieve a radius of 12 or 13 metres.

Bag volume

With a Siemens hoover, you can easily dispose of the dirt with the bag, but you have to replace it regularly. This is important because otherwise the suction performance deteriorates considerably. When buying your Siemens hoover, you should also pay attention to the bag volume.

The higher the volume of your dust bag, the less often you have to change it. This saves a lot of money in the long run.

At best, the dust bag should hold 4 to 5 litres. Siemens hoovers usually have a bag volume of between 3 and 6 litres.

If you want to vacuum several floors, it is advisable to buy a lightweight Samsung hoover. If it weighs a lot, you might find it uncomfortable to carry around the house. The weight of a Siemens hoover is usually between about 4 and 8 kilograms. The cheaper and more compact models are usually lighter than the premium models.

Noise level

If you want to talk or listen to music while vacuuming, you should look for a Siemens hoover that is as quiet as possible. The decibel value (dB) is decisive here.

Look for a noise level below 75 dB. Siemens offers some very quiet models with approx. 70 dB.

Many hoovers have a noise level of 75-80 dB, which is quickly perceived as unpleasant. A value below 75 dB is recommended. In terms of noise emission, hoovers from Siemens generally perform well. Siemens offers some models that have a very low noise level of under 70 dB. Since the frequencies of the noises differ from model to model, it is advisable to test the hoover before buying. This will help you determine which hoover sounds best to you.

Did you know that the quietest hoovers on the market are quieter than a normal conversation? There are hoovers that reach well below 70 dB and are therefore particularly gentle on the ears. The quietest hoovers reach just over 60 dB and allow for pleasant conversation while vacuuming.

The hoover's exhaust filter is especially important for allergy sufferers. Your hoover should emit as few dust particles as possible back to the outside. Without an exhaust filter, this can quickly happen due to the rotation of the motor. Coughing, sniffles or watery eyes can then be the result.

If you are sensitive to dust, you should consider getting a Siemens hoover with a HEPA filter. This is able to filter out particularly fine particles, such as pollen, from the air. An alternative is the classic microfilter. This filters most of the air, but not very small particles.

Many Siemens hoovers are suitable for allergy or asthma sufferers and have a HEPA filter.

Be sure to clean your filter occasionally to keep it working properly.

Before buying your Siemens hoover, also check the accessories that come with it. There should be some important nozzles so that you can clean perfectly on different surfaces. Here is an overview:

Accessory nozzles Description
Combination nozzle The all-rounder for hard and carpeted floors. The bristle ring can be retracted and extended depending on the surface.
Upholstery nozzle Ideal for upholstered furniture, cushions or even mattresses.
Parquet nozzle Best suited for sensitive hard floors such as parquet or tiles.
Turbo nozzle Perfect for extremely dirty areas where better performance is needed.
crevice nozzle The slim design allows thorough vacuuming in crevices or corners.

Siemens generally supplies several standard nozzles. You can also purchase other useful nozzles. However, make sure they are compatible with your hoover.

Interesting facts about Siemens hoovers

How do I change the bag of my Siemens hoover?

You should change the bag of your Siemens hoover after 6 weeks at the latest to prevent unpleasant odours from forming. This is very easy to do.

  1. Loosen the hoover hose: There are usually two opposite buttons on the end of the hose that you have to press to loosen the connection. This makes it easier to reach the hoover housing.
  2. Open the housing: Next, release the latch of the housing and flip it upwards so that you can see the inside of the hoover.
  3. Remove the bag: The bag is attached to a holder. It can usually be removed by gently pulling it out of the holder. Make sure that the opening of the bag is closed so that no dust escapes.
  4. New bag: Open the new bag and carefully place it in the holder so that it is firmly attached. Arrows on the bag show you in which direction it should be inserted.
  5. Check: Now close the housing again. Through the hole where the tube used to be, you can check whether the bag is properly seated. Then you are ready.
